:yes:ive seen a3,s on this site that have been to qrsport for throttle body cleaning only to be told they have to go to a dealer for diagnostic and repair, why is this?they are a "specialist"why cant they fix it themselves without recharging,or charging twice.im in the repair game ,aswell as unit 20 even cheshire audi we cant believe how a specialist can charge to not fix a fault and then has the cheek to say go to a dealer, the very reason you choose specialists in the first place,,it gives the genuine specialists a bad name..rant over tim cooper renn-tech-uk

Well if i took my car somewhere and said clean the throttle body. If they didnt clean the throttle body then i dont pay them simple.

I dont really understand your post. What is your point?

gotta admit i have a head ache reading your post haha, why not clean it yourself? all they will do is remove it and spray cleaner into and wack a cloth inside, I would prefer to do it myself as respect is needed....too much cleaner may shorten its life if it gets in the step motor...they arent gonna be bothered, as you will be back to get a new one through them in theory

4 screws and a new gasket.....ten minute job

Well when you clean a throttle body you tend to have to take it off. Its full of electronics though which are easily damaged but to be fair if they are damaged you need a new TB and if thats the case the cleaning was pointless.

Some say you need to have a garage re-setup the TB once put back on but I dont know how true this is.

its basicaly a warning.dealers have to do certain jobs specialists cant IE software upgrades and there are a few.a good specialist should be able to fix most other things....tim

sorry for the confusion, its not my car but a disgruntled owner, asking if i can help or warn other people..tim

from my understanding the throttle body needs resetting by vagcom or you need to disconnect the battery for 20 mins....it should realign after a few days

I would suggest the dealer upgrades wouldnt be favoured if you have a remap....as heard a few stories of them resetting the ecu with the orignal settings - not something id enjoy having spent good money on a map

yes you are correct we realign with vagcom,if it doesnt work try battery dissconnection and retry vagcom.software upgrades are important the 2ltr 170hp diesels a3/4/6 and others are having emission and glowplug fault due to software issues....tim

see what your saying but i suppose its a trade off, upgrade via main dealer and risk losing your map - i guess you could mention that they shouldnt remove it but nothings ever guaranteed

fair comment,,some upgrades dont change the complete engine map others do.with the 170 diesels the mil lamp restricts power/lowers boost ..bugga......tim
