Central locking using the internal switch

My internal central locking switch doesn't seem to be working properly. When I press it to lock the doors/boot from inside it does nothing but if i manually press the door lock pins down to lock the doors I can use the internal switch to open them without any problem.

Any ideas whats wrong?

So is it just the locking part of the internal button that doesnt work then?

remote central locking works ok?

If so i would say probably a faulty switch or back connections

yeah the central locking all works fine from the fob and it appears the unlocking part of the switch just not the locking part!

Sounds like a faulty switch or loose connections, you havent taken the door cards off by any chance???

I haven't but a previous owner may have done. I might investigate the switch this weekend, can I get to it easily with the door card off or is it still a pain?

Ive heard it is a bit of a pain of a job, and quite time consuming, i would probably WD40 it first to see how you get on, as its normally only affected in hot weather, if that doesnt work, just bite the bullet, get the microswitch and get it swapped over..

Bit of a weird one! I have noticed that the central locking internal switch works absolutely fine when th engine is off but when it is on it wont work. Can someone
please confirm if this is the same on their car.

On my 2001 a3 it works all the time

Cheers for checking. can anyone think of any reason why mine works only when the engine is off? is it a VAG setting maybe?
