Guys how similar are the Audi A3 8L and the VW Golf Mk 4?

Are they the same engines from 1.6 upwards?

uhhu, with the exception of the 2.0 golf.

all the suspension and brakes are interchangable too!

Ok, has anyone come across a problem with their audi where it cuts out when braking and slowing down to a halt. All the ignition lights stay on it just stalls but not in a vigerous way as if the car jolts, it just disconnects.

could be a bad airflow meter almost a service item on them i have had them stall when letting off the accelerator before

Yes that is exactly how it happens when i let go of the gas, it stalls. I had a feeling it was a hole in my exhaust or something like that.

na try the airflow meter first only about 50 quid for a bosch one from the factors and it should free up some extra power too

I doubt its the air flow meter i've come across this and it turned out to be a kn@ckered cat and it was just a year old.
