Alright lads what temp do you expect to see when the car is fully warmed up?mine seems to be runnin super cool?!?!?

Should be bang on 90 on the dash with the code 49 trick showing between 90 and 100.
Temp sender problem?

i think so sounds like it,it showing 80, and the needle sometimes sits on 90 but more often leans towards 85ish,temp sender??how much are these to get replaced got a service coming up so just get it replaced then?

Funnily enough i just had one fitted at my local Audi Specialist. cost me £41.76 fitted :)

what were your symptoms??im confused why its runnin so cold lol

£20 for the part from Audi and an easy DIY fit. The temp sender not only provides the info to the dash and CC, it also provides the same data to the ECU so it can control the fuel/air mix. If it's telling the ECU it's not up to temp when it is, then you'll be running slightly rich which can cause stalling, rough idle etc.

Yeh but it seems to be purring beautifully!i thought that myself, any way of being definite of what it is?would vag com flag it?

Sorry for the late reply.

My symptoms were mainly the ECU light came on, although it was a "tiny" bit rougher on idle etc it wasn't that noticeable if i'm totally honest with you.

The VagCom identified it straight away and i had it replaced. The car wants for nothing so got it done same day.

The temp needle was below 90 before it was done now with a new replacement sensor it is bang on 90 when warm and doesn't move!

Cheers

Hope that helps?

mines the same, its normally on 85 but can go as low as 80, not really had an idle problem but when i drive normally and ease the excelerator it wants to shoot off and put me in the back seats, would this be anythin to do with the temp sender

Mine actually did this but thought it was a problem with my VVTI, which i'd had done. Come to think of it this problem is not there anymore so might very well be something to do with the sender.

It's a £40 part, don't buy cheap by OE. Worth a try at that price i'd say.

:)

ok thanks, will get it done at the weekend...............whats VVTI mate

Variable Valve Timing unit. Mine was faulty and was replaced, along with camshaft rotor sensor, chains, chain tensioning system, cambelt, pulleys oil, filters etc etc.

Solved major noise issues when i started the engine, sounded like a super loud sowing machine.

well mine had cambelt and tentioner done last year but due for a service, i ll get the temp sender done this weekend and new m.a.f and forge dump valve (the common problems) and see how it performs before a re map

another common problem nobody seems to have mentioned is the thermostat. I thought it was the temp sender causing my cold running, but it turns out my stat has stuck open, so as the days get colder the car takes MUCH longer to warm up, which really isn't great! I'd suggest a new thermostat.
