PROBALLY A DUMB QUESTION ABOUT VAG COM

ok I own a 2002 S3 and my wife has a MK5 golf tdi. Just got a laptop so im now thinking I should have vag com. Thing is ive maaged for 4 years without it so do I need it ????

Also for a diyer do I neew the full retail version and will one version do both cars ????


any opinions welcome from peoples experiance

hex can usb will do both, micro can will only do same kinda range a3 8p, golf 5 etc, yeah if you have 2 cars now for vagcom then money very well spent for sure.

I personally cant say enough praise for vagcom, £260 very very well spent

but if he hasnt needed it for over 4yrs then why bother with it? seems like he could save that money if he`s not needed it before. just wondering

cause the day he goes to the stealers for a problem he will be paying £100 an hour anyway, where as vagcom is 2.5 hours audi's labour & paid for life & would help you untold for almost everything on his car & now cars, it can also protect you against the stealer all to common you have a problem with this part, oh really whats the diagnosis say, well we've cleared it but it said it was faulty, where as vagcom scan beforehand is also an insurance policy to the contrary what they say huh let alone all the untold helpful things it does for you

for me given my modding I do its saved me thousands, but if you're not into mods then I can see where you might think its not worthwhile, but overall its a win win situation now having 2 vag cars

its £150ish if you have the micro can lead but as yours is an 8L & hers is the golf 5 I dont think it will cross over:
