Anyone bought one of those cheap Vag-com cables off Ebay?
If so, do they work ok?

Quite a bit cheaper than the £200 original.

I am using one of the ebay cables with a registered version of vagcom. No problem till now.

I have an old opto islolated cheapo cable running a resistered version. Will only run the early versions of VAG-COM. Later versions require a genuine cable I believe.

i bought a cheapo off the bay last week and it doesnt work, doesnt even find interface on set up so i sent it back.
bought the full monty from a guy on here somewhere called terrymcg which includes the latest full version of vagcom.

So how much does it cost to register Vagcom software?
Presumably, this is the only way to get it to work with cheaper cables right?

I've been using the alpha bid USB jobbie with the registered version of vag-com without any issues for a while.

mine is from ebay and is registered on Vista
