volume problem get any worse on concerts?

The 'classic' eratic volume problem on Concert A3/A4s... once you've got the disease, does it get any worse? Mine only does it for the first few twiddles when its cold, and thats it. I'd like to know before I decide whether to get a bootchanger or replace the Head Unit. Desperately want to keep the headunit, why are all aftermarket headunits so horribly designed?? They all seem to be designed for 14 year olds...

It only get worse and more frustrating, also it can be embarrasing with the windows down in the summer suddenly it jumps from 8 - 30 normally when it's a crap tune and you wanted to turn it down.

I've had two S3's and both the head unit's have had to be replaced with the same problem, each one being a different model. Luckily they went wrong before the warranty had expired.
