Another paint thread LOL Brilliant/Imola Yellow

Sorry about all of the threads on paints recently, but I am at a stage now where I am ready to buy a car but I am just deciding on what colour to go for.

I think it's going to be either Yellow, Black or Grey.


Anyway can you tell me or show me the difference between Brilliant and Imola yellow?

Is Brilliant flat yellow and Imola Met yellow?

What are the paint codes for the two?

Is F2F2 Imola?

Finally what years were they an option on the A3? T Sport in particular, and was it rare for the T Sport to come in yellow?

I have a March 2002 dated UK A3 details brochure, and there is no listing for Imola or Brilliant Yellow. I seem to recall that Imola Yellow along with Nogaro Blue and Goodwood Green were reserved for S3 only (other experts i'm sure will confirm this). The listing in the brochure for colours is as follows

Dolphin Grey, metallic
Silver, metallic
Crystal Blue, metallic
Canvas Beige, metallic
Laurel Green, metallic
Advocado Green, pearl effect
Merlin Purple, pearl effect
Denim Blue, pearl effect
Ming Blue, pearl effect
Ebony Black, pearl effect
Merlot Red, pearl effect
Brilliant Blue
Brilliant Black
Polar White
Absolute Red

There is no mention in the brochure for audi exclusive paint schemes, so i do not know for sure if you could even get these on special request. Dolphin Grey i think came in with the facelift which happened roughly August 2000 (X plate) ie Audi Model Year 2001...not 100% on this.

I believe that yellow was an A3 colour only available in europe and NOT the UK.

Iv'e certainly seen yellow A3's before!

There is one just down the road from me.

The only way I can describe the difference between the brilliant and imola yellows is that the brilliant is a deep yellow and the imola is more of a pale shade!!

Hope that makes sense.

I think I am going to hold out for one in the yellow even if it does take a month or so.

Has anyone got any pics of them to show me the difference?

Also is one Met and one flat?

What size of piping was used to make your exhaust? It looks huge... is it 3"?

Also is you S3 de-catted?

Brilliant yellow is the lighter colour. My car is a UK model. I know a guy who has an a4 in this colour too.

almost looks more green than yellow... probably just the light/camera though.

Yes. Leather was an option. Mine has pretty much all the options added.
Heated leather seats, air-con, climate control, sunroof, Bose stereo, headlight washers, S3 rear spoiler, weird coloured wheels, etc.

But the one thing that I really want that the original owner never went for was the centre armrest.

He must have missed that box when he was ticking all the others so quickly!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif

I bought mine last night (picking up Tuesday) and it looks the same colour. Is you paint code F2F2?
