S3 temp gauge / sensor problem.

Please can somebody help me out with the following problem on my 2002 S3?....sorry if this has been asked before but I can't find an answer.

The temperature gauge is OK for most of the time...sits nicely in the middle at 90. However, sometimes it doesn't move from 60 at all then while I'm driving along it will spring up to 90 and sit there as it should.

Also....sometimes it goes to 90 and stays there as it should....then it can drop to 60 for a while ...then go back up to 90 again with no warning!!

It seems electrical to me due to these symptoms...could it be as simple as a loose connection somewhere?

Temp sender is shot. Easy £20 replacement from dealer, DIY fit.

Thanks for the reply....I have an AMK engine....would anybody know where I find the temp sensor on this engine and what part I need from Audi?

audi should give you the correct part

theres a guide for fitting it yourself here, it's for the 225 bhp BAM engines but there shouldn't be too many differences
