Loud clanging noise ??

Hi, my A3 1.8T has started making a loud clanging noise, often does it going over bumps (but not all the time) I think it could exhaust related, has anyone else had similar issue's with exhausts ??

Its probably the middle bracket broken. The bracket goes under the exhaust and has two small weld points which break, then when you go over a bump the exhaust lifts and then comes down onto the bracket making a clanging noise. I used a large jubilee clip to hold the whole lot together.

Been like it for 3 years and still working fine

it could be the arb bushes. or suspension parts

does it come from the front or rear?

Sounds like it's coming from the middle of the car, doesn't happen over all bumps and sometimes seemws kind of RPM related which is why I thought possibly exhaust.......could just be wishful thinking on my behalf though.

Is it a clang or a knock?

If its the middle exhuast bracket then its fairly easy to check, just get under the car and have a look.

A clang, sounds like someone hitting a couple of pot-pans together.
