Hi,

I have just put my S3 in for MOT at a different garage from normal and im convonced there ripping me off as im a young lad with an S£ so they think I have lots of money.

I usually take it to a audi specialist who have told me in the past that the S3 doesn't need the tracking doing as they are 4wd, Is this true?

As the the garage I have taken it too have charged me for doing the tracking. He also said he struggled to get the CV boot and had to order it from audi so the price has gone up quite a lot.

I just get the feeling he's screwing me.

So just neet to know if the tracking actually needs doing on them?

Thanks a lot

Its more expensive than normal tracking because of the haldex and is generally called 4 wheel alignment. Done properly it should cost around £80. If its done on a proper machine it will be done by laser and you should get a print out.

I just noticed your at Ellesmere Port. I have used Central VWAudi before there and they were really good if you haven't come across them before.

yeh thats who I normally take it too, They are really good but they couldnt fit me in for 2 weeks and MOT had ran out.

The guy said for the MOT, Wheel Alignment and im pretty sure he said the CV boot it was £318 does this sound right.

I use discountVWAudi in hoylake on the Wirral, they seem pretty fair, mine passed the MOT there last week and its in now getting the clutch done.

Tracking definitely should be done - tyres ain't cheap for an S3. Mine goes through them like there's no tomorrow!

I recently paid £64 for four wheel tracking adjustments when I fitted new tyres. (This particular garage in Bristol charge per adjustment, checking is free) So far (2k miles) they are wearing pretty evenly!

Keep in mind that you may need to adjust each wheel for tracking and camber alignments.

Nope - MOT £40 odd quid or whatever is is. Had CV boot done on mine last year £50 fitted by Midland VW. Also do they have the correct 4 wheel alignment equipment to do your 'tracking'? Again should be between £60-£80 for that with adjustments done on appropriate laser equipment. What equipment do they have?

Appreciate you're in a bind but might be worth getting a quote for that work elsewhere to start with.
