Had an attempt at replacing my thermostat earlier following this: http://forums.audiworld.com/tt/msgs/1304892.phtml

I think thats for a BAM engine on a TT, I've got an APY and the whole area around the lower bolt seems a lot tighter - I can barely get my hand to it let alone anything else!

I can get to the top bolt fairly easily with a ratchet and universal joint, but the 10mm socket just keeps spinning off/over the bolt whenever I put some force into it!

I'm clearly doing something very wrong, so suggestions please before I try and get it booked in at the local specialists.

Cheers

It's a ******* of a job to get to it, although some people claim it's not that bad....

Personally, I took one look at it, and decided that my socket set was too large to get in there.

If you had a decent 1/4 drive socket set with several different extensions and UJ's I reckon it can be done easily enough.

Good luck!

the job is a pain in the ***, i found that a small rachet from maplins of all places (about £4) was the saving grace....

this has to be the most useful tool i have ever bought.
