I think i need to change my maf, some days it seems fine then others it isn't i have had it checked and it came up with maf signal too High (16847) and boost pressure too high (17963) But this only intermittent i can reset the codes and it will be fine for a week or so then the codes come back, can a maf be intermittent like that or could it be the wiring?? i thought a maf either worked or didn't!?

As for replacing it wheres good I've seen them on Ebay for £40 but don't know how good they will be,is it a case of go genuine Audi to be safe? or can i use GSF or Vagparts?

Bump-ati-Bump!!!!

6 people in a hour! Thats poor this forum is usually buzzing with people that should be working!!!

I'd wouldn't get one off flea bay personally, they're temprementle at the best of time's, go dealer for piece of mind, any problems and they'll have to sort it out !!

I could of phoned you, but thought i'd give you your first post.....

If your talking about the ABS situation then i'm waiting for a call from Audi, spoke to Kev at the specialist's and he rekon's i can either have mine reconditioned, get another re-con one or obviously get brand new, either way, they should be a damb site cheaper than the stealer, just going to have to wait and see....one thing i will say tho....the car's alot more exciting to drive without any aids.....:racer: Lol......yee-haaa !!!!!!

Sound promising, better than the stealer's anyway!!

Anyway back to the topic at the top....Answers on a post card please!

I think Audi dealers do it on exhange. £70+your used one

Do not get an ebay one, go to VW i did for mine, and it was under £70 inc vat. The 2 ebay ones i tried worked differently to one another and gave different reading in VAG-Com, stuck an OEM one in and all the related problems went away

Thanks HOUCH, i would have thought they would be different, i think there is actually two types for the S3.

i should be able to mange to fit it just have to get my hands on a the set of things that undo the screws, see some in halfords today for a tenner!!

I presume it's just unbolt and bolt the new one back on?

If you're talking about those Torx security bits on Halfords then don't bother as they don't fit. They have the wrong number of prongs...I know as I bought the set hoping it would do the job. I've not currently managed to find Torx bits that fit the MAF screws.

When you buy a MAF you usually get the cylindrical housing it's screwed into as well so you don't need those Torx bit's anyway, just a screwdriver to undo the clips holding it in.

Ah so do i have to take the pipe off and get at it that way, from inside? I though i had to basically undo the Trox screws pull the old one out, then put the new one in?

Yep couple for quatty 2 if you give them your engine code they can supply right one, kept 1 in stock for mine, I changed mine in their car park to save trip back to exchange, not too sure how they took it really at least there was no problem getting wrong part number....

Anyhoo offer still there save ya a tenner n' I dont wont nothing for it hate to see more money go to Ips Audi they've got more than enough, these seem to go quite regular so if you are planning to keep motor couple of years you may need tools again although I think I undid screws with just norn hex bit.

No worries Houch.

Thanks again houch! I'll see how i get on in the next few days! The car was running sweet today but a couple of days ago it was running like a pig, so i will probably wait till it ***** up again then go and then get one... see if it makes a difference straight away.

You don't need to remove the MAF from the housing at all. On either end of the housing are jubilee clips which hold all the pipework together. Just unplug the MAF, remove both the jubilee clips and then remove the unit. Now swap for the new one.

Once you buy your new MAF you'll see what I mean :)

How you gettin on with the new MAF S£?
I was getting the 17963 - Charge Pressure: Maximum Limit Exceeded code (amongst others!) too. Swapped the MAF over the weekend, car feels alot smoother but will check for codes again in a few weeks to see if its solved that 17963 or not.:detective2:

the issue I'm having is "16486 - Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70): Signal too Low - P0102 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent"

Had this twice now.. I have just replaced the MAF too!? :(

ross-tech wiki suggests checking maf wiring and connections if its not the maf itself?

I must find and bookmark this Ross-Tech Wiki thing people talk about..

Wiring as in, from the connector down into the loom!? (hmm, silly question) but.. "oh no!"

I checked some of my old stuff and the Apexi settings originally were 64% and 1.45 bar. I have the RS going in for new brakes at the Volks centre next week - I'll have a chat with them and see if they have any ideas about the S3.
