well after getting in on DPM`s group buy I finally got a baby sitter for the day and fitted the lot.

Car feels very nice now, just got to have the geomertry checked and alls done.

first car ive had where you can`t get onto the top nuts on the front shockers with a ring spanner.

What is it with the Germans and silly nut sizes, 16mm, 18mm, 21mm *** had to doctor a 21mm socket to do the job. 1 side 3 hrs making the tool and fannying about, 2nd side 30 mins job done :)

What did you change? Was it just springs and dampers or did you do ARBs as well?

Fingermouse, you got any before and after pics??

What exactly have you had fitted???

ah only one old before pic didn`t have time for pics today maybe next week.

I had R32 ARB`s on already so added Billy B8`s and H&R`S with ECS adj rear tie bars fitted at the top. ( ****** rear subframe bolt gets in the way to remove the inner bolt *** isn`t anything straight forward)

I've had the setup on mine for about 5 weeks, drives so well ! Feels like you can really chuck it around and inspires confidence ! :icon_thumright:

Did you do it on a drive or did you have a ramp? I'm so tempted to fit mine now.

I did mine on the drive, took about 2.5 hours, if you have the tools its an easy job.

Get the splitter tool from VW, about £8 and it makes it very easy.

You will need spring compressors, a 21mm deep spark plug socket and a long 7mm allen key, iirc thats all you need specialist tools wise.

yup did it on the drive, as mentioned above with the tools ready the job is quite easy. Always handy having a extra pair of hands when getting the front shocker out of the bottom sleeve.

I just used a chisel as a splitter worked a treat.

I waiting on my kit to arrive any day now, and I will be fitting it at the end of the month.
Did you guys change the topmounts at the same time? Cheers

nearly did mine but they looked and felt like new so didn`t bother, think they are 20 quid each from audi. Had a mate who killed a set of spurious ones in a golf ralley so Id have got genuine ones I think.

Yep, top mounts and top mount bearings, about £30 for the lot

from were? an is that for all for or just the fronts? an also if i fit a Weitec 40mm Ultra GT Kit to my a3 1.8T, would i need to fit Front and Rear Bumpstops? an lastly ive heard its best to get a 50/30mm Ultra GT Kit but not sure now.

The Weitec kit comes with everything you need, all that is advised is to change the top mounts while you're on.

The best kit for the 1.8T is the 40mm.
