alarm siren not working

Evening troops!

As the post says really, recently realised my siren isnt working. Alarm will trigger the indicators but no noise. I've found posts that say it may be turned off? Is there anyway of checking? I do have accsess to some basic diagnostic software but not VAG-COM. At the mo I'm not getting any fault codes from the car. How easy/diff is it to change the siren? Is there an after market siren i can fit without messing with the audi system??

just as an after thought is there any way i can test the siren before i part with my hard earned? And it is vey hard (that'll be 2 dodgy quotes now!!) earned!
