head / engine code

Ive just been offered a 97 a3 1.8 which needs a new head,i need to know if the head off other models will fit (ie vw/a4) and if the are interchangable between engine codes and where is the engine code located ??

AGN is what ur looking for mate. You can pick up a rebuilt one for around £200-£300

Been to have another look and the engine code is ADR .

Oh...im pretty sure mine was the AGN and mine is a late '97 A3 1.8 N/A

This ones a feb 97 if that makes a difference ??

ADR is for the A4 1.8

Where the codes are located are on a small plate just in front of the head IIRC have a look in the manual for your car and it should say the 3 places.

Ive had another look and it has AGN stamped on the bottom end !!
