    Battery problems

    Hi all,

im having a few problems with my car. i have an Audi S3 and my battery keeps going flat.

go to the car in the morning, put the booster on it, go to work about 15-20 min drive, 1 hour later battery dead.

i checked it with a volt meter the alternator is charging it fine (14 volts) and when the car isnt running it stays at around 12.3 to 12.1.

i plugged vagcom into it, a few errors but nothing related.

any ideas? could it be the waterpump that runs after the engine is off?

Do a current check on the car.

Remove the battery positive lead and then add a multimeter set to read amps between the positive lead and the battery.

Then turn everything off on the car and see if you are getting a reading. If you do, start pulling fuses until the ammeter drops to zero. This should at least indicate the circuit causing the problem.

you can`t really test a car betery with a avo you need to put a hefty load on it. A Battery spot can do this for you but it sounds like you just need a new battery. I got a Bosch silver one for about 60 quid, I think varta do a nice one as well iirc.

Sounds like a dead battery to me from personal experience, what year is your S3?
