I use one of these, means I can take it in my work van too. For that price I really can't grumble beacause the sound is perfect.

Did you still not get that working Danotto? You can choose how the ipod charges (or not as the case may be) through the setup - have you checked that? Instructions available here: http://www.incar-support.com/support...id=4&nav=0,1,2

Back onto the subject - i've been using the Dension Icelink Plus for a while now and can't fault it.

I had a Dension but it had a current drain fault which discharged my battery 3 times in less than 3 months. Now all disconnected and looking for alternatives so interested what people say....

fitted one last week called xcarlink from ebay cost 80 quid, the chap who sells them always use's a pic of a ipod with the audi badge over the top. Any way really easy to fit i have thy sym ii hu it just plugs into the cd changer port, is also compatible with mp3 players as well, it has a phono jack like a head phone's plug so can plug into anything with a head phone socket, it works with my psp so you can watch a movie and have the sound through your stereo and also works with my nokia n95 for music etc.... As for the ipod connection it's fully controlable via hu and also charges the ipod and pauses it when you change to fm it also remembers where abouts in the song you were when you turn the car off and then start again basically works the same as your multi changer... Well i think i've sold it enough now hope the description helps and sorry about the text etc... I'm writing this on my phone!

Just had the official Audi connection fitted. I have to say that despite it being more expensive than other options - and I've listened to/considered most - the sound quality through my Bose, the fact that it's all hidden away in the glove compartment and the simplicity of the whole thing means I think it was money well spent...

i got the genuine Audi one, bought it from a guy on here! 60 nicker and works a treat, use my iphone with it and no grumbles, only thing is it locks the ipod out so u gotta navigate via the stereo, which i have to make playlists up for cd 1-6 etc...easy option and intergrates nicely.

You press the CD button twice to gain control of the Ipod then the CD +/- to change play lists and obviously CD track does the the tracks but only up to 99 and you can only cycle through CD 1 - 6 ( Playlists ) So you get 6 playlists worth of 99 tracks unless your HU supports 10 disc multichanger

I think if you have say 15 different playlists and you connect your ipod and start at playlist 7 for instance i think you will get to control playlist 7 - 12 if you get me!!

Hope this helps and i am correct in what I'm thinking!! if not I'm sure someone will be along to correct me!

The 8P A3's come with an Aux-in option. This can be retro-fitted quite easily.

I use the Belkin TuneBase FM which is a dock that sits in the cigarette lighter. It was perfect for my old car, but in the S3, the little ashtray lid has to be open for it to be used which is not ideal.

Does anyone have a tomtom with FM transmitter which can also be connected to your ipod? I'm quite impressed with how it acts as a hand-free phone too. Has anyone got one, and does music sound any good through the Bose?

Alex, I believe the belkin FM modules are not that cracking. I was talking top a guy in halfrauds about the dension fm and works in a totaly differnt by actually plugging into the back on the ariel so you dont ever loose signal unlike the inferior cheaper 'plug in and play' 1s.

I believe tomtom also do a bluetooth base and adapter which maybe better quality.... I take it you have the 910 or above tomtom??? and yes the hands free is wicked

I was satisfied with the quality of the fm transmitter, i've tried a few and the belkin one was the best. Now that the S3 has a better headunit and speakers, i think the fm route might be the weak point!

One of my friends has the 910 (i think!) and it had 20gb for music, an ipod connection and an active dock. I'll have to do some research but I think you can hardwire the tomtom to the car speakers. I think the newer tomtoms have cables which run to the unit itself (a passive dock). I'd rather keep the dock in the car, semi-permanently wired in (looks like a 910 for me!).

Scott, or anyone else for that matter(!), do you have this setup (tomtom hardwired into car?), what do you reckon to the sound quality over the denison?

    Cheers

Ive got the 910 tomtom (with the 20gb mp3 player) if im honest its MINT!!! One of the best bits of kits ive bought in ages!!!! its the model before the widescreen ones but believe me its probably better than all the new ones.
I havent actually tried hardwiring it but did use the supplied aux lead that came with the tomtom and ran it through an aftermarket headunit (very good sound quality)

I suppose you could buy an aux adapter and hook it up to the tomtom along with the power lead and just keep it sat on ur windscreen (thats one reason i havent done it as its asking to be broken into) lol.

How were you thinking of hard wiring it?? As theres no aux leads etc...

Havent actually bought a dension link yet so couldnt comment on that (currentley high bidder on one on ebay!! )

It did help thanks, but I still need to know whether you can overide the CD changer controls and use the scroll wheel on the iPod to change the track whilst mounted in the cradle?

I'm looking to have the active dock in the area in front of the gearstick and under the ashtray. It can be stored there out of the way, and I can just take the tomtom itself when i park the car... no need to unplug wires etc...

By hardwiring, i mean getting the audio out from the active dock and swapping it for the CD changer... is it possible to do that? If so, I'll be getting one of these quite soon!
