http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2473773134

Well i emailed the guy and got this response, Sound a bit odd?
AS they say if it sounds to good to be true!

 Hi,

I received your email regarding my car.
First you have to know bidding is restricted since I have some problems
with
some member in the past and since then I am carefull with my auction,so
noone will press that button until I have the assurance that he will
buy it.
The car is in perfect condition,as new I can say, with no scarches on
it,no
damage. The price for the bike with shipping and insurance to your
address
included, is $7000,so ,please REPLY WITH YOUR NAME AND SHIPPING ADDRESS
IN
YOUR NEXT EMAIL.
Shipping will be done via Nippon Express and will take no more then 4
days.
All the manuals and the original documentation are in English.
You will receive this along with all papers and recipts that you need
to register it in your name.
You will receive the TITLE,keys, owner manual...
It has a Clear Title and it is in Showroom Condition.
The car is in Europe, Italy and it will be shipped from here on my
expence.
Again, there are no other fees and charges just the price of $7000.
In bouth cases ,if somethings happen to your money and the item does
not
arrive to you as described....you will be refounded 100% of the amount.
Shipping will be done via Nippon Express and it will take no more then
4
days.I have a friend at Nippon Express who will manage me a low price
shipping and I assumed that it is from me to pay for shipping it.When I
will
shipp it,I will declare it as a gift so you will pay no cusoms when you
will
receive it and for this it will be delivered directly to your address.
Also, I have to let you know that I will require a 30% downpayment as a
ferm
commitment from your part regarding this deal and also to cover the
shipping
charges since I will shipp it in the same day or next days the payment
is
complete .For the moment I can only accept a wire transfer as a payment
method and the fastest is western union. Also you have nothing to warry
about
because this deal will be done in a secure way if you prefer.
The most important thing in all my activity here is that I am
affiliated at
eBay Square Trade , I have a a purchase protection account for £25000
and i
assume you know what mean this.In case we will close this deal, you are
protected by Square Trade. How you are protected by Square Trade:
1) In case you will not receive the car as i described to you,Square
Trade
will refund you with 100% from the whole amount which you paid to
me.Even in
case you will not receive the bike, they will refund you the money. But
this
is not the case.
2) You can send the money to my name and address but you will not give
me
the details from the payment. You will give the details to square
trade.They
will verify the payment and if is ok,if the money exist and are
available
under my name they will notify me to proceed the shipping. After you
receive
and see that the car is the one you want you just notify Square Trade
to
forward to me the payment details in order for me to pick up my money.
In bouth cases ,if somethings happen to your money and the item does
not
arrive to you as described....you will be refounded 100% of the amount.

Let me know if this is ok with so we can move forward with this deal!

Regards!

hhhmmm to good to be true ?

whats he on about a bike for?

Wouldn't trust it as far as I could throw it.

Firstly he consistently talks about a bike.
He says the car is in Italy when the picture is taken in the UK.
He says the car has 5 months left on MOT, when its on 02 plate. Which I think means the earliest it can be registered is March 02, which would mean MOTs wouldn't kick in till March 05.
Whys he selling a car for 10,000 (approx) under list.

i contacted him a few days ago and got same response, it doesn't sound right. the pictures show the car with british plates and he's talking about shipping the car to me once he receives payment.

looks like a scam

Someone should ask him to use an Escrow, tell him that you'll pay all fees. I bet he won't /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

from squaretrade site...

"SquareTrade CANNOT guarantee a transaction or seal member's performance, however SquareTrade's services can substantially lower the risks of buying online."

SquareTrade aint an escrow service like he claims above .. all it is a something that sellers buy into ( 7.50 a month) which then is supposed to offer a second level of compensation upto $800. In practise it doesn't offer an awful lot.

Check what he's bought in the past - Hydrponics equipment, not suggesting anything...but...probably lost the plot.

just got another reply!

Even more dodgy!:

"The buy it now price is £7000 not £17,000,the car is
registred in UK,i am from UK but i might stay here fue months with my
business and here are lefthand drive.

Let me know if you are interested."

Just as an aside, (and I know everyone is agreeing that this s3 is well dodgy) I know of someone who bought a car on ebay (over £18k). AA datachecked it. Went to pick it up, everything matched up (log book, vin plate, engine number, number plate). The seller had datachecked it too. Parted with the money. 2 days later went to register his private plate on it and was told the bit of document he had was a forgery. Turned out the car was a clone! Police said it was an incredibly good accurate job done and was no way that anyone but an expert would have sussed it. The seller denied any knowledge of it being stolen. Police sided with him and took no further action. Left the buyer taking the seller to court to try to get his 18 grand back! This was back in October 03 and it is still in the hands of solicitors. Basically what I am trying to say is be very, very, careful when purchasing a vehicle (particularly on ebay!)
