Lowering Suspension. How low is too low?

I own a 99 A3 1.6 sport and am thinking of lowering the car, but am worried about scraping when the car is full of mates or scantily clad females(i wish). Any recommendations as to how low and which springs to choose? Any help would be much appreciated.

50mm with the Weitec kit seems a popular choice with A3 owners at the moment if you're wanting the low look, may require a new front ARB though. Coilovers are also an option so you could set it to just before it started rubbing.

Go for a decent quality set of springs, if it means saving that little bit longer, then do so, as with the cheaper ones you will only end up wishing that you brought the more expensive better qaulity ones....Depending on the size of wheels that you have, i would say 35-50mm drop would be just right.
