Hi,

I have a 2001 Audi A3 1.8SE

I am having some trouble programming a NEW spare key.

I can get the doors to lock and unlock, but when you put the key in the ignition it doesnt seem to recognise the immobliser - fires up then cuts out immediately.

Old key

4DO.837.231. a 211.01
433.92 Mhz

New Key

4D0.837.231A 14.01
433.92 Mhz

Am i using the correct key?

Can anyone suggest why i can't get this to work or help at all.

Thanks in advance

Derek

I thought its main dealer / vag com only to get the key to work with the immobiliser

If anyone can comfirm this i will go to audi and stop wasting my time lol

Thanks for the reply!

i've done this once before on a mk4, if the process is the same then you need a skc code either 4 or 7 digit depends on the age of the car. you then need to program the key into the immobolizer using this code

i had the same prob with may old golf mark4 got the info of web to sort it out

If you still have the original white plastic tag with a scratch of panel then the secret key code is under there. VW/Audi used to supply the codes to owners but not any more. Anyways you need to log into the immobiliser via vag-com with this code to programm the new key in.
