    Dog bone thingy ?

Is this standard kit on an Audi S3 ? am i right in saying it fits to the gear box & engine to reduce movement & increase more precise gear changes ?

    Thanks

Just reduce movement mate i think, wont alter gear changes
Its just a replacement poly bush as the standard ones are softer rubber.
You'll find your standard one between your gearbox and subframe (IIRC)

You only get the yellow bit (poly bush) the rest is your standard bits

i spent ages searching for reviews of these. the conclusion was that it made things too hard, and you get vibrations at idle. The best bet is to fit a new standard one, but unfortunately it's not available seperately from Audi!

Ive changed both bushes on my Dog bone mount for uprated ones (not just the rear one pictured above), it has actually improved the change from 2nd to 3rd (very rarely crunches now where as before it crunched most times when driving hard)which as we all know is an issue with these gearboxes.

I had one on my old LCR, definately worth it, but took around 6 months to settle down and loose the vibrations. Some say setting the torque correctly helps avoid this. There's also a full mount available, can't remember who makes it but look on SeatCupra.net as loads of people on there fit them.
It helped to put the power down better with the 2wd, I had less traction control light flashes so I suppose with an S3 you'd be losing less of the bhp to the rear wheels.

I had one fitted a couple of weeks back. I must admit, there is more pronounced vibrations from the engine on idle. Doesn't really bother me much, as it's only very slight.

If anything, it makes the car feel more "raw".

Had mine fitted for about 4 years or so now, they need running in, vibrations at idle at the start, then settles down with a few k miles, still slight vibration, but nothing to worry about. Plus points are more positive gear changes due to less engine movement and better transmission of power to wheels, but I doubt you will feel this. Bad points are vibrations into the cabin, mainly steering column and steering wheel.

i fiited one to my mk4 and it was a good mod, as stated it seems to tighten things up but you do get a bit of vibration.

I had mine fitted a few weeks ago as have been thinking about it for along time, and i am very glad i had it done. I remember someone saying ages ago that it would rattle your teeth off!!! so it put me off but have to say im glad i got it done.
Gear changing feels alot more smoother, the crunches in 2nd to 3rd have pretty much disappeared.
I have noticed though you have to accelerate a little higher to get the bite point otherwise the car stalls!!! But the cabin vibration is only really felt through the steering on idle just about but other than that my teeth are still in check!!!
