Hello all,

Just thought I'd say hello and that I am now a proud owner of a silver '00 pre facelift S3. I love it.

I have never owned an Audi before and after owning 32 cars, I thought that for my 33rd car, it would only be fitting to buy an S3!

I've just moved over from the scooby scene as I wanted a slightly more refined/more reliable (touch wood) car!

First off I think I will be changing the cambelt and either refurbing my oe rims or buying a set of 18s...

I must say the Audi is a bit older than the scooby but it just oozes in quality ;)

Thanks guys for the warm welcome. Im not too clued up on how to put pics up on posts (yet) but will look into it!

I love the S3 it feels special in a way like my escort cosworth did all them years ago! I just cant believe I didnt buy one earlier!

welcome ............ 33 cars wow .............. im 34 and only had 4 cars :)

I have a serious problem of keeping cars. Im a serial car changer! The longest I kept a car was my beloved escort cossie but the running costs / relaibility were an absolute pain in the backside & my wallet!

I aim to keep the S3 for a good while tho :icon_thumright:

Ive just done the same as you serpico, apart from Ive still got my scooby!!! Got bored of the chav image especially as Im 41, dont get me wrong, I loved my Impreza and my S3 certainly isnt a match in either handling or performance..but........its a much nicer car!!! Get some pics up mate:cool:

Agreed mate as far as gunning it goes the scooby is something else but as for an everyday driver the S3 is much nicer & the power seems more useable. I miss the flat four burble but the sheer class of the S3 is on another level..

As soon as my rims are refurbed, bodywork is sorted & I will figure out how to post a pic or two up

Any info, pics of the Escort Cossie?

Dont have digital pics of cossie unfortunately :( I actually owned two back to back between 2000-2003. The 1st was a pristine small turbo on a N plate in diamond white and the second was a large turbo in mallard green with my p/p K999 COS. It was a beast running just under 400bhp I had the works, low comp pistons, piper cams, green injectors, 3 bar map sensor, s/s exhaust, hybrid t35 turbo, rs 500 intercooler, 18inch khan rs-s, koni adj suspension, ebc brakes, morette headlight conversion etc etc..

I have a few normal pics whilst they were sat on my drive but no real artistic shots. It guts me to think that I was young and stupid - not appreciating what I had. Now Ive got the wife and kids its a distant memory. I wish I was 21 again!

I recently saw my n plate one for sale at jct28 for just under 17k! It has risen in price!!

Oh well Im content with my S3 and its far better than my bugeye scoob I owned before!

We're all at Awesome GTi in Irlam tomorrow, why not come down?

Cheers for the welcome mate :icon_thumright: . What is the occassion at Awesome tomorrow? RR day?

Im in work tomorrow :( but depending on time I may very well pop down for a little while!

D'oh! Just found the thread! Im going to do my best to turn up for a short while especially as awesome is relatively close to me.

You guys will ave to excuse my slightly shabby bodywork/alloys, I only got her a couple of weeks back but she will be pristine in a month or two!

I bought my S3 last November, I was tempted to buy a scooby but glad I didn't, the S3 is such a nice solid motor and just a nice place to be!

The scooby tempted me as I had an R5 Turbo when I was younger, I loved that car with it's big turbo, 3" pipe and DV. It torque steered everywhere and made an awesome sound (well it was awesome at 19!)

I'm 33 now and the S3 was a perfect choice, due to it's understated looks and quality. Bit thirsty on the go juice though!!

Welcome to the world of S3s!

Just be careful with the tuning bug, its amazing how soon you go from just a remap to full blown big turbo kits!

Thanks guys. Yes the modding bug will no doubt catch up with me at somepoint. At the mo I have a few scuffs and scrapes on the car (from the last keeper might I add!) to sort out and keep me busy. I also need my rims refurbing.

Once this & the cambelt service is done the modding shall begin!

You made the right choice mate! The scooby was great fun but it just didnt feel as well put together as the S3. Too be honest its not as fast as the subaru but what it lacks slightly in performance it makes up in quality. Dont get me wrong the scoobys are lot of car for little money but I guess I just fancied a change! ;)

The quality factor is certainly miles ahead of the shoppin trolley...ooops Scooby
