Would be grateful for any help before the alarm on my lad's A3 (1.8 SE - year 2000) drives us all bonkers as can't get anyone to look at it before Thursday.

The alarm keeps sounding although the lights aren't flashing. It stops when unlocked but 10 minutes or so after locking goes off again even if internal sensor turned off using seat button.

Can't find a way to disconnect or turn the alarm off - any suggestions appreciated - neighbours would be grateful too!

When we stopped and thought about it we realised there is a way to lock the car without activating the alarm... saved parking it outside someone else's house. :)

70 quid for a battery!!! Vor sprung dosh tecknik.

Hows that then? Does the auto lock not alarm it? Explain please my simple mind cant think outside the box :p

You unlock the door with the key/fob button which unsets the alarm. Open the door and press the central locking button on the drivers door then close the door remembering not to leave the key inside the car.

We activated the central locking button from the passenger side as not sure if the central locking button works when drivers door is open... also opened and closed drivers door as wanted car to think the driver was still inside... you need to be cunning to fool these Germans! :)
