i think the rear A3 mud flaps fit the front of the S3

Yep, rear A3s sort of fit the front. You need to make some clamps to hold the top of the mudflap in place onto the wing.

No, there is no such thing as original equipment mudflaps for an S3. If you ask an Audi parts dept they will tell you that the A3 ones do not fit. But from personal experience, buy two pairs of rear A3 ones. The rears fit easily with self tappers into the bumper. The fronts are a bit more difficult as mentioned you have to make or buy some clamps to hold the top of the mudflap onto the wing to avoid having to drill it.
