I've recently noticed that when I brake gently from about 20 mph, I get a knocking sound from the front, the regularity of which decreases with the speed of the car.

It sounds as though it could be the front brake pads moving about in the calliper, becuase when I press harder on the brake the knocking seems to reduce/stop????

It's really starting to annoy me /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burningmad.gif

Has/does anybody else have this with their S3/A3? And what did you do to stop it?

Thanks as always. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I have same noise from my 2003 Golf GTI, except it comes from the back.

Rear bushes were changed and it went but it's back again now but I don't care cause my Audi is comin next week.

On my Celica I had knocking from the back and bushes solved it, although I've know got knocking from the front - hopefully bushes or calipers. Then again, bushes should last for a good 50-60k or so, how old is your car?

Hey Noodle sorry to resurrect this thread, but I've just had all four tyres changed on my car and I'd don't know if it is coincidence but I'm having exactly the same prob as you (as you say, very annoying!)

Just wondered if you ever got a fix?

Cheers
