Strange 'Jet Engine' noise on first start up...

Hey guys/gals

Not sure if anyone has experienced a loud high pitched 'jet engine' sounding noise ocassionally on the S3 just after start-up?

Any ideas what it may be be? It goes after a couple of minutes, as I'm selling the car very soon, wanna get it fixed before selling on.

Any ideas gratefully received.....

Might be the secondary air pump, but there's a number of things it could be so tiss rather hard to tell

That'll be the Secondary Air Pump, it's just doing its job, it's nothing to be concerned about.

Sweet.......it is only intermittant, some days it's audible, some it's not

mine makes the same noise always wondered what it was? it only stays on for about 15 seconds tho? what is the secondary pump for?

Is it the turbine? (ala KITT)

It pumps air into the exhaust system during cold starts to heat up the cat quickly and get it working on those emissions.
