Start Button

Hi, I've just fitted one of these to my TT and I may be offering a fitting service on the A3/S3 platform soon, but wanted to guage interest first. Its an official Honda S2000 OEM button and works once the key is in position 2. Let me know what you think, please forgive me if I've posted this in the wrong place. It may not be to everyone's taste but all comments are welcome. Please reply to the post or PM me with any questions.

    Thanks for looking,

    Naresh

looks good fitted one of these to my corrado as when i first got it seven years ago (not the honda one ) the hyd clutch would catch me out now and again and as you have to turn the key all the way off before you can restart so i could just press the button and restast without turning off , would have put it on the other side of the steering wheel so you could start and put it in a lower gear with the one hand , handy if you stall at the lights

I think start buttons are a little pointless when you have to put the key in the ignition. Personal opinion, but I don't see the point. Its a useless thing even in the RS4.

I love start bottons and have one for my Land Rover but they are completely pointless if you have to turn the key like the new RS4 very strange idea.

All said though they are cool.

Looks like you've done a really good job on your TT, I'm not sure where this would fit on the A3 though. As others have said it's pretty pointless however so are a lot of things people do to their cars.

I'm looking at doing this for 120 supplied and fitted (all parts and labour), and takes around 3-4 hours to do.

Honda charge 60 for the button alone, and then a relay wiring kit has to be made up.

Chocolate teapot? Reminds me of the glass hammer joke!!

Looks good but I agree very pointless if you have to use and turn the key. but if u have £120 to waste then why not.

I truly don't get this fascination with starter buttons. For the first 60 years of the 20th Century, cars had an ignition key, and separate starter button. Then, in the early 1960s, some clever engineer came up with a combined ignition & starter, operated by the key, and the car world progressed a little. Ok, it wasn't as radical and far-reaching as disc brakes or radial tyres, but it was still a step forward.

40 years later, we're going backwards, and apparently some people are happy to pay for the privilege. Just out of interest, how much would anyone here pay to have their laminated windscreen replaced by a toughened one or, better still, have their DOHC multivalve engine replaced with carb-fed pushrods?

I'd pay good money to have Webers on my 20v ;-)

I'd like a start button if I could do away with they key completely, as my alarm fob does everything else, wireless fuel cut off when armed, and everything active when the door is opened.

I like the look of these, just gives the 'racer car' feel when starting the car!
