    2003 A3 2.0 TDI

    Hi all,

Image One - Audi A3 2.0 TDI Today

A few questions that still leave me pondering?

    Thatcham Category One alarm?

CAT1 Combined alarm and immobiliser Alarm with full perimeter and passenger compartment sensing and battery backed-up siren
Passively armed immobiliser isolating a minimum of two operating systems
    Anit-scan, anti-grab key-code system
    Coded fuel valve for diesels

So then when you leave your window down and wave your hand it beeps, is this a warning or when does the siren sound? (Testing)

Also another question that needs to be asked (ABT Sportsline UK)

Whats the deal with these and audi uk now?
In the future I may possibly consider an ECU upgrade to 177 bhp

Does audi do ths at present? I know they honour ABT but do they fit themselves which would be great?

Thought you left in a huge huff ?

Nice to see you back and good to see a decent post.

On the ABT front, UK ABT (main importer) has shut down suddenly sparking rumours that Audi UK may take over as ABT's importer in the UK. Speculation continues that Audi UK may accept ABT's chip solutions within warranty as most other countries do. ABT's chip solution for the A3 2.0 TDI only makes 170PS (ie 168BHP) so you will never see 177BHP from ABT unless they change their code. ABT's tuning solution seems to make the lowest figures in the market either their marketing info is wrong or they have deliberately held back the power for some reason best known to them.

Not Audi UK. Some dealers do it.

If audi do it then it may have to be done.

However does it still keep the flat torque curve from 1700 - 2500 with max torque? Or is there just a peak @ 2500 with no flat torque curve.

    Pete

Audi don't do it,some dealers do (not the same thing at all). That fact is very important, Audi provide the warranty for the car not the dealer, if anything goes wrong you may find yourself with an expensive bill. The dealer will probably tell you it will be ok but they are not taking the risk you are.

The upgrade will give you a better torque curve across the rev range and may improve fuel economy (depending on your driving style & mixture of driving).

    Re: 2003 A3 2.0 TDI

No flat torque curve with the rechip - the flatness is electronically engineered by audi to make it sound impressive, but it feels dull to drive. the new curve tends to follow the efficiency of the turbo unit, with a low boost, higher in the mid range and then top end tail off.

Don't know which part of "audi don't do it" was ambiguous, but they DON'T. Audi UK don't approve any of the ABT aftermarket mods currently, so you jepordise your warranty even if a dealer francishes the rechip out for you.
