RNS-E parts question

Hi,

First of all i own a 2001 Facelift S3 with Climate control.

Im gathering all the parts ready for the RNS-e install.

At the moment i have the concert single din HU.

so first question is - what double din cage do i need? is it the one that holds the symphony HU? or is it the cage from the A4?

Is the cage a pain to fit? i hear you need to take everything apart to change it.

Once the cage is sorted i need to choose the RNS-E unit, i hear the best one to fit is the one from an A4 as the face plate is a better fit is this true?

I also heared loads about this can-bus, what is it and does my car have it?

Theres an adepter which you need to wire up the rns-e, any idea where to get this from?

if anyone has any good guides to fitting the rns-e with pictures to a 2001 facelift S3, it would be much appriciated.

A3/S3 8L cage P/N 8L0 858 005

Cage can take a while to fit and glove box and panel below steering wheel all need to come off to get access.

Yep A4 fits the best.

You need the right CAN bus to turn RNS-E on/off etc and for instructions in DIS. Pull the cluster out and if you have the grey connector which I am sure you do.

thanks for the details it seems the biggest part is fitting the cage.

may give it a go if i can get hold of all the parts.
