Dip in the idle

I noticed when I slow down to stop (i.e. take the foot off the accelerator, and apply the brake - it's an Auto) that the revs won't settle at 1100 as they usually do, but dip and bounce between 500 - 1000 before finally settling

What is that all about..?
No problems when the car is running...

Ok, ta, I will ask another silly question.

How do I check for this? Can i pull the Maf connector out and drive around for a bit to see if the problem persists or will it be a VAGCOM job?

It was the jubilee clasp, it worked itself free....
