Performance chips from ebay?

Complete hockum...

18BHP from a 2.0 NA?
With a bespoke re-map from a reputable tuner, you will be lucky to get much more than 6BHP...so 18 BHP from what looks to be a 'resistor'?

If it was easy to get 15 BHP + from your average NA engine, wouldn't the manufacturer just up the power...?

A good buy? I think not...best avoided.

OK I almost fell for it there.

I did some further search on ebay and some chips claim to increase 40HP!

If only it was that easy.....

I know of someone who put one of these on his 1.4l 206, and he said it did make it go alot quicker, they fool the engine into thinking its colder than it actually is so overfuels. When he took it off the engine nearly blew it was that hot.
£1 for 1 bhp - IMO if its too good to be true, it is.

Ebay is the new haven for liars, cheats and con artists.

I'm not saying everyone on there is like that as I have sold engines on ebay myself but the last couple of years it seems to be pretty much filled with junk and semi-intelligent theives who have worked out how to use there stolen pc.

i once wired one up to my Corsa GSI 1.6 16v it seemed nippier but i wouldnt say 10bhp or even 5bhp, i would have thought it damages the engine by increasing wear i wouldnt bother !
