    What tyres ? i need 4 ;-(

As above i m gonna need four new tyres pretty soon. I was planning to buy a used set of wheels with half decent tyres but havent come accross any.

I m looking for a tyre thats gonna last that isnt to soft i currenty run conti's sport contact at the moment which seem to do the job but i m open to suggestions.

If setting a budget of 100 per rim am i kidding myself ? (17inch Avus wheels).

    Thanks

    Matt

Toyo Proxes have been really good in my experience. Way better than Pirellis

For the money Toyo T1S, T1R or the Goodyear F1s will set you back £100 a shoe; problem is they are a soft tyre. The Michi PS2, Conti SP3, Bridge RE050A will set you back £120-130 a shoe and can be slight harder. As you are buying 4 make sure you ask for discount!!!!!!! When i bought my 4 x Contis the price got down to £390 all in!

Personally would never buy a 'used' set; it may save you £30 and give you 6mm of tread but they could be refurbed, cracked or previously split.

    Don't skimp on your tyres.

Had 2 sets of F1's lasted about 35k per set (quattro) could not complain about them at all.
If you can't get hold of them, try getting the new assymetricos that have replaced the F1 GSD3

I have uniroyal Rallye 550 Rain tyres....very impressed with their handling. Or then again, maybe I am getting confused with the far better performance of the Audi, compared with the pug I had before

I just can't believe that is possible on a soft compound tyre like the F1's. I've run most makes of tyres and even being 'kind' and 'gentle' I can not get more than 20k out of a set. The front's are annihalated after 11k on soft compounds or 15k on hard compounds. Only the rears last till 20k.

So for you to attain 35k out of a set of soft compound tyre is quite remarkable.

Do you ever go above 5mph or go round corners?

Yes, i used to excercise my car regularly, although 70% of the mileage was motorway.
Having a quattro really evens out the wear.

The rear tyres i have on the car are the original tyres & the car has 43k on it. Black circles will supply & fit for 400 + or - minus a few quid for contis 1, 2 or 3's which i think isnt to bad at all. Tyres prices seem to have dropped i recon.

Also worth trying www.mytyres.co.uk. They ship the tyres in from Germany but they are still cheap.

Currently on second set of Parada's which are awesome in the dry and whilst crap in the wet, the 4WD restores the balance in the wet.

I would never put Parada's on a FWD car that had to drive in wet/damp conditions.

I think my next set of tyres will be F1's or PS2's again.

Paradas are one of the best tyres I've tried. And at least you know what you're getting with Yokohama, no risking the Chinese cheapo F1's.

Read the Evo tyre test so may try the Vredstein ones, but few places do them. Currently on Contis and very happy with them.

F1's are one of the best tyres ever imo.. Also Verdestein (spelling) are ace... They used to be budget, but think they are quite expensive now...
