Hi and welcome to the site.

I use Tesco 99 Ron as the Shell V-Power is horrendously expensive near me (nearly 5p a litre more than Tesco 99 Ron). I use Shell as second choice, and Ultimate is third (even though I live closest to a BP station).

I know that Tesco 99 Ron isn't available everywhere and that most Tesco's sell just bog standard 97 Ron Super Unleaded.

Also worth checking this independent research published earlier this year:

I don't think I've ever used Optimax actually. I use Tesco 99 as there's a garage near me that's normally got it at a good price. But it's £1.02 at the mo! grrr

i always use shell Vpower (used to be called optimax) Shell always seems to be competitvely priced in my area and the Vpower is only 5-6p more than regular unleaded. With the V power fuel i get about 40 more miles to a tank than with regular n the car seems to have a bit more go too, so worth paying the little bit more imho.

Forgot about that and its a good point cos with the drivers card thingy you can get money off petrol etc.. bit like tesco's clubcard. Not sure how much you get back as i have not been using it that long but anything has to be better than nothing.

Too right. With the amount of Optimax/V-Power I get through it is a bonus. With the 'V-Power Club' card you get double points on your purchases. So far I have just shy of 30000 points which equates to @ 200 of vouchers...or 4 x Lego Ferrari Pit Stop's!

Did no one read the independant research posted above!

Tesco 99 all the way for me, when I can get it, V power if not and other 98ron where I cannot.
Mine struggled on the rollers with 98 BR in it. With optimax it made 15hp more and with tesco 99 another 12hp on top!

I did, but I just hate giving money to mammoth (we are all about profit) stores like Tesco's!!! Although, to be fair, shell are no angels...

Shell are about the 3rd biggest comapny in the world! Make a million a minute!
The tesco stuff is better and cheaper in our local town......no brainer !!

If you are a bit anti capitalist, maybe you need an old diesel and run it in Costco cooking all like my mate does! £10 for 25 litres puts it straight in his diesel Jetta and it runs a treat!!! !:-)

V-Power - but mainly because my cars mapped for it.

Don't forget the Tescos points as well - 1 point per £1, then if you trade these in for vouchers to use elsewhere (i.e. don't spend them in Tesco), you get 4 times the face value - i.e. it is worth 4p off per £1 spent.
