When I shut the drivers side door, it doent appear to latch on properly, I have to either very gently shut to the door or push it in.

Has anyone experienced this before and if so, is there an cheap fix without having to goto the main dealer?

Thanks in advance.

I have heard that you can not adjust the door, but a simple technique of jacketing up the door slightly can re-align the door and solving the shutting issue.

Something I might try at the weekend, a few people should be along soon to confirm this ! :)

I hope! :faint:

If you hold the door handle up and close the door slowly, does it look like the top of the door lines up with the trim on the bodywork?

Yeah you can try carefully just bending the door upwards, if this isn't working or you break the pins then these will need replaced.

the catch on the bodywork can also be moved, not sure this would realyl help you tho

had the same problem a few months ago. the door does drop over time in which you can just jack it back into place.

be careful though not to over do it so just go slowly.

Hi

Thanks for the info.

How does one go about jacking the door back up?

I had a look at the alignment and it does look slightly out.

I took the car to audi prior to posting on here and therefore didnt know anything about the doors dropping, they said I need a new door lock mechanism

Can you use the jack at the back of the boot? Is that good enough to do the job?

My last 3 A6's have done this.

If you shut the door and find it doesnt quite engae the lock properly, try shutting it and keep the pressure on the door as its shuts. If this works, try spraying wd40 into the door lock and closing and shutting the door a few times.

same problem here too. if i shut the door normally or fairly hard it sort of rebounds back half shut on the latch. then you can push it shut. It works fine if you shut it gently.

strangely i drounded the lock in WD40 and it worked fine... for a day then started playing up again

You'll probably need a whole new door lock mate. I have an issue with my drivers lock where it doesn't unlatch every time when opening from the out side. My passenger lock has a knackered microsensor which is stopping the alarm from arming.

I've done some research into doing fixes but it all looks a massive pita so i'm getting 2 new locks fitted by a VAG specialist for £100 a lock!

Before you try jacking it up, give this a go. There are two 10 or 12 mm bolts towards the bottom of the door. tighten them up and see if it shuts. I had that problem where it just pops back open, tightened them and now its fine.:o.k:

I'm surprised they didn't say you need a new door... what a bunch of jokers :)
