Hi Guys, the car is displaying service in 600 miles on the DIS.

its approaching 85k. i have booked it in and the guy said does it need a timing belt change etc. my reply was I dunno. he said it should have been done at 60k so he will assume it had.

after that i checked the history and there is a service history but nothing for a timing belt or any other belt.

the man at service shop said haldex oil and filter change. blah blah.

should i get the belts done too? im not sure now at what milage they should be done.

also what damage to the wallet can i expect?

this isnt audi direct but IVC audi specialist

The recommendation is to change the belts at 60k. It used to be done at 80k but this has changed in the last few years. If there's a chance yours wasn't done back then, then I'd get it done as soon as you can - should be about £450 - £600 depending on the garage. Haldex oil and filters are due at 80k.

Cam belt is every 60k or 4 years. Call up the garage that did the 60k miles, and ask them if the belt was changed. If not, get it changed asap. Also get the water pump and tensioners done too. Cost for all should be around ~£350.

Haldex oil needs changing every 20k, and filter needs changing every 40k. So if that hasn't been changed, get that sorted too. Rough cost around ~£120.

Above prices are independant garages, if done at a Audi dealer, expect to pay double.

You definately need the cam belt done as well as the water pump & tensioner. VAG now recommend every 60k or 4 years (this is printed in bold on top of all their service receipts now), so yours is well overdue and could be hanging by a thread.
There has been all sorts of confusion over the recommended intervals ranging up to 115k miles with no time limit (which is ********), so this could be why it hasn't ever been done. Check the back of the service book as this is where the additional service work is detailed.
At an independant you'll be looking at around £250-£350 for just the belt, pump & tensioner, which is about half the price of an Audi dealer (depending on where you are in the country) as the bulk of the cost is labour.

Thanks for the info dudes,

Im in yorkshire - im guessing this is the most expensive service

the only thing in the service book thats recent is

August 06
Oil Change and inspection

January 07 (75k)
Oil Change and Inspection

Next service
oil / inspection / longlife service is ticked.

so i guess its not been done (i just remember previous owner saying it had.)

Hi
We had an Audi in with us last week
This car had nearly 100k miles on the clock
Been serviced by a main dealer and NEVER had a Haldex service
Brake fluid is one too that the dealers sometimes miss
This is every 2 years and nothing to do with miles , Ooops

Have you checked in the back of the service book? That's where all the extra stuff is documented.
