    replaced wheel bearing - humming!!!!

    Hi

my g/fs A3 had what sounded like a wheel bearing problem with humming coming from the front drivers side. We thought it may have been something to do with the gearbox at 1st cos we'd just had it rebuilt but when coasting with the car out of gear you could still easily hear it & it only got louder/quieter with road speed not engine speed

Me & a mate changed the bearing on Saturday. Took the car for a drive but it's still the same

Now i'm thinking it could be something to do with the driveshaft. Anybody got any ideas?

Oh & the discs & pads were also done at same time as bearing & alloys/tyres are same as that's been on it since we got it

    Thanks

    Craig

it might be the other side that's shot, sound can travel through the shaft/gearbox and resonate on the opposite side to the bearign that's actually shot.

or even the back. When a rear bearing when on my corrado it sounded like it was definitely coming from the front. Very Weird.
