    Slick 50 in a 2001 1.8T

    Hi all

    newbie question here for you.........

    i'am doing a oil change today on my 2001 1.8TS

    and i know from reading other threads to use fully synthetic oil 5-40w

    anyway i bought a slick 50 oil treatment pack............

    you get engine flush............ fuel treatment and slick 50 oil treatment all for 25

    just wanted to know is it wourth using it on the 1.8ts engine

    when i do carry out the oil change today

    I read somewhere this Slick 50 is horse**** but i might be wrong

    Doesnt it only really benefit on older cars?

    I wouldnt put any additive to the oil,especially **** 50.

    I wouldn't put Slick 50 in my engine either - if this stuff was any good it would be in engine oil as standard

    Has anyone seen ROIL?

    That DOES work, but really, only in AVS type of scenarios, if you are changing the oil every 5K like you should anyway, the additives wont do much.

    I remember when I had my 5turbo, all the specialists said a "BIG NO" as the slick50 clogs up the oil veins in the turbo. I'm unsure about the 1.8T turbo, if it'd do the same, but personally I wouldn't risk it.

    I was told the same thing when i had my RST.

    funnily enough mine was for my R5 aswell

    Dave, your kidding surely or do you own a refinery! I am on AVS which comes in every 18 k or so.....

    Yes Bowfer, I know yours is "Self Changing"...... but every 5K or am I missing something?
    Coming back to Audi with an A3 Tdi Sportback Quattro... but the 220bhp T5 was epic....

    I buy oil in drums as its cheaper, and I change it before and after a track day, so on average, every 5K mine ges changed.

    Its also the supposed preferable interval to keep the oil totally clean all of the time.

    It works out cheap if you buy the oil in bulk, like &#163;15 a time or thereabouts.

    Fair comment if your doing track days as it will get a hammering. Bulk buying makes sense too. Does your car feel any different for this though? Or is it more reliable?

    Not sure to be honest, it never really goes wrong, but then I dont have any oil leaks to speak of, and i change the oil so often I couldnt tell you how much oil it uses just running.

    Piece of mind and all that.

    Stick Xado in it - will make your engine run smoother as the silicone type compound is absorbed into the molecular structure of the metal (btw this stuff won't clog up your turbo as we're talking nano technology here)

    Btw before anyone goes flaming me do some research on it first - it's good stuff and I certainly noticed a difference in how smooth my engine ran (didn't do anything to performance though tbh as it's still quite a low milage car for a diesel).

    Best way to stick it in is mix it up into a bottle of oil and give it a right good shaking until you can't see any more blobs, then whack it straight in with the rest of your oil when you do the change.

    Interesting facts
    Driving without a lubricant was an indispensable condition during state certification of the gel-revitalizant for diesel engines in China. Being loaded with 8 tons of goods the Chinese truck with diesel engine operated with a dry crank case the whole working day and covered 204 km! The test showed that the content of CH in exhaust gases reduced by 10 times (decontamination factor 89,2%!). At present the truck operates at its full capacity and is checked regularly. XADO dosage is defined by oil system capacity, which in its turn is proportional to the area of friction pairs.
