s3 tapping noise

hi

i am just writing to see if anyone can help, i went to see an s3 at the weekend and there was a slight tapping noise on start up, (thought this might be the tappits) but also noticed that the temp guage lowered when on boost, do you know if these items are related ie head gasket going? any help would be appreciated as i dont want to buy this motor and find i am lumbered with a big bill straight away

car has done 79K

cam belt changed at 70K

Possibly the dual mass flywheel? Sorry can't really help you with the temp guage.

get it vag-com'd look for a cam timing fault as it could be the start of your VVT solenoid going

i hear like a tapping knocking sound when i take up drive almost like bottom end bearing noise? could it be the flywheel
