for my A3 Turbo..

My options are:

Silver
Black
Red

The car as seen is a dark blue with the standard Turbo wheels, but soon to be replaced with RS6 18"s.

What are your thoughts? Cheers.

id go for red or the same colour as the car

I used tobe into red but now i think when painting standard calipers then silver is def. the way to go.

if you have large calipers that you wana show off then red... but by the looks of things you have standard the same as your alloys... so just go for a clean look with black! use hamerite aswell.... alot cheaper than specific caliper paints and works wonders... done my a few months ago:icon_thumright:

red, done mine and my car is same colour and wheels as you, PM me if u want a pic

Thanks for your input on this one guys, much appreciated.

I nipped down to my local and picked up some fresh RED paint. I had red calipers on my Black 106 XSi a while back; it looked smart.

Progress & Pictures..

The wheels were attacked first.. they spun off, given a good scrub, soak with APC, a claying and a coat of Wet Mirror finish & some cheapo wax.

I've always tried to keep the arches looking pretty smart but have never taken the opportunity to get in behind the wheels..

As you can see the calipers were in need of a coat or two..

why even paint them if it's going to be black or silver..?

they may as well be left as they are unless it's something bright..

Its called attention to detail.... and black looks alot better that rust IMO:whip:

well if it's rust you're worried about, just get out the wire wool and give them a good scrubbing.?

black calipers only look good with those stickers you get off ebay, saying sport or audi or s-line or whatever like some guy did with his s3 on here.

damn clean.............good job, didnt know u could use spray paint though, i thought it would come off due to the high temperatures. It took me hours with the caliper stuff i bought and it dries so fast in the tub but not on the car......i managed to get some on my shoe too and walk it all through the mrs kitchen on the tiles. that was fun to get off!!!!

Good job.....how long did it take to do all 4?

I'm planning on doing mine at some point.

I might try a different colour on each:think:

Please dont?! Granted, on my old A3 I had one Silver side and one Black side (couldn't decide what I liked best!) but I really wouldn't think about doing individual colours for each.. :(

It took the majority of the day tbh. I spent lots of time faffing around, making tea and coffee and biking the the local chippy ;) I'd say around 5 hours?!

thanks all.

yeah its one hell of a job, the cleaning is the worst part and watching your car balancing on stands.................knowing any little movement can bring the car smashing down on the disks wrecking it all. could u imagine. :faint:

i actually took my wheels off the other day to clean em, swap em round and clean the calipers and i think....THINK..... i may have jacked the car up on the wrong points first time round. didnt do it on the sills. did it on like a rubber circle part near the front. me pops told me i did it wrong so i spend 5 mins faffin with the manual for the back and it seemed worse but as the guide said i did it......just under the side skirt things. (not that us lowly a3 tqs are lucky enough to have skirts :-(

still all is well, no jack pretruding through the floor

i disagree... done mine in black... im not trying to draw attention too them... they just look alot better and cleaner compared to stardard IMO:moa:

Got mine done in siver, using hammerite, looks well nice and tidy and much better then when they were rusty.

Why do cars don't come out with calipers painted anyway? It would make sence, as most people who care about their cars paint them anyway?
