s3 face lift dash conversion ?

I am considering updating the centre dash console to that of the face lift s3
my question is regarding the heating controls ... will the pre face lift connectors plug into the face lift heating controls or have they changed it enirely
And as for the head unit how in portant is the canbus as i don't have it on my model and the head unit has a can bus input
