These are some close ups of the affected areas of paint on my car.

The whole of the front bumper the fronts of the wings and pretty much all the bonnet, also a bit around the front of the rear arches where they are flared.

I will just say in the pics it doesnts how up as badly as IRL but it gives you an idea.

Can this be repaired without a respray and if so how many hours work would a specialist be looking at ?

You can just make out in the pics loads and loads and loads and loads of tiny little stone chips, they show up as white dots I havent seen anything like this before, there are normal looking stone chips there as well.

thats just where the laqueur has been well cracked, bigger stone chips go right through.

That's a lot of stone chips!!! How many miles has your car done?

Yeah how old is your car?

that's quite bad I know everyone will moan but just get some black polish from Halfords and you will notice the differnence.

Mine's the same. A good detail masks them so you don't notice them so much, a few of the lightest one will come out.

mine looks even worse for stone chips :-(

I'm thinking my only option is a respray or ................ a new car.

car has done 90k

But i didnt check the service history when i bought it, there is a possibility it has been clocked as it did a constant milegae for its first owner and they suddenly did 5k over 18 months and in that time had an owner change as well.

Can these be sorted by a detailer though ?

For the price I think you might be better of with a respray IMO.

Not sure If a detailer would be able to a good enough job.You might spend a couple hundred quid trying to sort it and it'll look better but you'll still have some chips, and wish you'd spent the same money on a respray in the first place. You are probably only looking at £200ish for the respray (same sort of money)

Most decent detailers would do a test section first anyway to see if it can be improved to a level your happy with. Visit Detailing World and find someone local to have a look.

That's hugely expensive!!! My man has quoted me £300 - £400. But that is a great price because he is a friend.

I still think that is alot of money that go towards so much more!

Effect, that quote does seem exceptionally high to me - would be worth getting a couple of quotes.

As leecs3 said, might be worth getting a quote from a detailer too. They maybe able to sort a lot of yours chips. Or at least some of them meaning you may not need to get as much sprayed?!

read my post again people.
I said I won't be having it done by him.

I also asked for reccomended bodyshops in derbyshire.
I rang the derby audi dealer earlier only to be told all there work is sent to another company which i tried to ring about 5 or 6 times and every single time got the same mail box.
