Fault codes.

Hi everyone,

I have plugged old VAGcom in and recieved this fault code.

16497 - Intake Air Temp. Sensor (G42): Signal too High
P0113 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
Readiness: 0000 0000

I thought it was the MAF but is this right?

I have googled it and no one can tell me what the problem is.

Any ideas?

I have seen this too when my MAF was playing up! Want to plug mine in later, clear the fault codes and try a run? When you clear the fault, does it come back straight away or does it take a couple of days driving?

Yeah that would be cool, can you bring your handy tool kit please?

I haven't cleared the codes yet due to not knowing what is causing it.

Did you get a genuine new MAF then? Also how much did you pay?

That sounds like a dodgy AIT sensor. What car is it Nick? I would try cleaning it before going out and buying any pricey parts.

Can cause poor MPGs and power loss and is located on the intake mannifold on the 1.8Ts

Yeah thats the one Nick, you can clean it using alcohol or electronics cleaner. I bought one recently for my A4 1.8T and it cost £30 from the stealers if I remember correctly. Should be a real easy job to do, on mine you just unclip the lead and unscrew the allen-bolt holding it in.
