Waterpump: with metal impeller 1.8T

Hi Folks,

Does anyone know where I can get a waterpump with a metal impeller for a W reg 2000 1.8T? also a sound dampner for the undercarriage, the dealer quoted £120 for this item and no luck on e-bay?

was the metal impeller standardised accross the range after a certain date ? how would you know if your plastic one is functioning correctly ?

metal impellers are third party only. Audi still use plastic impellers. Audi changed the design of the plastic ones after they started to fail though, so new plastic ones are supposed to be OK.

You can tell if its broken, because your car will overheat.

I have seen the water pumps when they have gone
It was not the design of the impella`s but the fact that it cracks around the bolt that holds them together
I would do the metal impella`d one myself and they are only approx £25.00 ish
