    Anyone know how to adjust doors???

    As posted, both my front doors dont line up with the rear of the car anymore.

    Is there an easy way of adjusting them ??

    dont sit flush? The catch can be moved in that should help

    sorry i meant that they have sagged slightly so they are lower than the rear quarter of the car.

    I was wondering if there was an easy way of raising them ? cheers.


    I suppose one way would be to loosen the hinge joints and move it slightly but that seems a little - untechnical!

    I had the same problem on my drivers door, which my dash display kept saying drivers door open
    I got some advise from my neighbour the other day and fixed it.

    Heres how to do it.

    open door 1 foot, put a trolley jack underneath with a peice of wood in between. jack it up slowly. when the car stops rising then only go a bit further.
    you can trial and error until you get it right, but go slow so you dont over do it.
    this is the only way as there is no adjustment on the hinges.
    if your not up to doing it then a body shop can do it

    u will be able to bend the pins a little just with brute force too, but be careful dont wanna break them

    get a mate and bend it back yourself

    works a treat on nearly all cars iv tried it on, except the audi funnily enough lol which doesnt need it yet!

    Did you try it?

    I've got the same problem with my driver-side door. Got caught in a gust of wind at the weekend and now doesn't always latch properly when closing. Has dropped at the top rear by a few mm.

    Local dealership want an hour's labour at 100+vat to look at it and specialist commented that it may need a new door. Although neither looked at it.

    Is the jack and wooden block a "safe" bet?

    Jack and wooden box works. I did it on mine the other day and had no problems.
    Just take it slowly so you dont over do it
    Dont go to stealerships

    Glad to say this isn't really the case.
    It is a complete PITA though and requires removal of lower half of dash and IP mounting panel to gain access to 13mm hex mounting bolts inside the car & wheel arch liner for access to outer T45 screws.

    Used a trolley jack to assist with adjustment & support of door. Narrow ratchet also required. Fiddly job but can be done.
    Mine had dropped evenly & was exposing a 4/5mm gap all along the top and front edge. Quite possibly the cause of my drivers footwell leak.

    Now all closed up so time will tell as to whether the leak has been fixed.
    All in - 5hours or so.


    Underneath wheelarch giving access to 'outside' T45 screws - one upper one lower.


    In-car lower hinge mounting bolt (inside the top hole in pic)


    PITA upper hinge internal bolt. Very poor access!


    Lower hinge after movement.


    Upper hinge after movement.
