Folks,
I'm looking at buying a 2002 Audi S3, and just wondering what the service schedule is like on them ? When are the big services ? Ie; timing belt and any special haldex services ?

Thanks,
Tom

10K intervals unless it is on variable servicing.
Every 20K haldex oil
Every 40K haldex filter.
Cambelt etc. - find a consensus on that one! Generally 60-70K or every 5 years.

Servicing costs are very reasonable if you use an independent. Might be worth checking if Cambelt (and waterpump at same time) on a prospective buy has been done depending on age and mielage.

Looking at 02 cars around 60k, heard a mention that cambelt was 80k on these motors. But it's hitting the 5yrs anyway at this stage.

Cheers.

I thought the cambelt was spose to be done at 60k? thats what mine was done at?!?

Better to get it done sooner rather than later with these motors and either look for one with work completed or use it as a bargaining tool re price.

Do a search - whole load of discussion daily on the cambelt issue. It is better to be safe than sorry in this instance. 50-60k max or every 5 years seems to be the overall general consensus between us and specialists alike

on my APY engine Audi says 115k miles but i had it done at 60k as it was over the 5 yrs.
My mate spoke to audi to find out when his TT cambelt was due, he gave them the reg and vin but they still were not sure. lucky if they could tell their *** from their elbow

Early S3's (APY - 210) had a slightly different (wider i think?) cambelt so it used to be 115,000 miles until you were advised to change them by audi, by the release of the Later (225 - BAM) engines audi were recomending 80,000

End of the day the S3 is a performance car and the belt would take a fair amount of abuse so i'd go for 60k / 4 years and get it done ahead of time just in case.

Good luck with your search

Mike
