I have a ming blue (post facelift) 2002 S3 with under 40000miles. Everything on it is standard (bit of a crime really I know) and since finding this site have spent many hours searching and browsing thru the threads and gotta say probably one of the best out there. So I figured if anyone can help me it's gonna be one of you guys.
I've been thru the usual array of probs with my S3 which I have now learnt are quite common such as the diverter valve losing performance, the coil packs packing up (no pun intended), the MAF deciding to call it a day, etc. All of these I have replaced myself with original Audi parts.
My problem now is a crunching gearbox when shifting from first to second at high rpm. Most likely than not a synchro prob. My question to you guys: is there a quick fix to this? (i.e. using different grade oil in the gearbox - I see that a lot of guys recommend the Motul 300 gearbox oil - will this solve/improve the problem or will I have to bite the bullet and have synchros replaced? Also can anyone recommend a good/reputable Audi specialist in the South East that is reasonably priced? I've had enough of getting raped by Audi dealerships
Thanks.
