1.8t sounds like a tdi when i start it

Hi,

I have only had my my A3 about a month or so and whenever i start it the engine produces a noise like a taxi, is this normal? Just a bit worried somethings about to drop off.

its quite normal for a second or so

if this is the same as my old one, it's just the oil pressure builing up for that first second or two... i found leaving it for a minute before i switch off in the evening helped reduce or stop it happening.

completely normal, IIRC it's a secondary air pump/fan - Pumps air into exaust system during warmup to heat the cats up quicker. Emmisions device to lower pollution etc. lasts for about 1 minute
