    knocking

i recently replaced the springs and dampers on my car and when doing the rear i noticed that a rubber thing looked well worn. as it was late at night i had to put it back together without replacing it as i would have liked. there is now a knocking comming form the rear and i recon if i replace this it should stop as everything else looked fine. i found a picture that shows the region where the rubber thing was i just need to know the name so i can order a new pair.

it sits around the area with the black arrow pointing at it, labled 2. i am guessing it is a bush of some description but i am unsure of the name. thanks for the help.

That is a bump stop, it stops the suspension bottoming out, it won't cause any knocking unless its missing and you hit a really heavy pothole or bump.

The problem with common sense, is that its not that common.

have you checked your boot for dead hookers, knocking from the rear can often be attributed to the dead hooker in the boot

i think the bump stop is the cone shaped rubber thing pointing up in the centre. i need a sort of large washer thing that sits around this. its a tid quattro if that helps. thanks for the advice

No idea, maybe the spring seat? or should it be part of the bump stop?
