Hi guys, my TDi has developed a bit of a problem, it doesn't happen all of the time, but quite often when cruising at about 80ish the power seems to fluctuate, loosing and gaining power. It feels like im driving through a big puddle! for a second or so and then fine again.

Any ideas what this may be, and is it going to cost me an arm and a leg?

Also, I do not know if it is related but it has also developed a 'knock' noise sometimes when braking, it sounds like it is coming from toward the back of the car.

Sorry for all the wuestions, but if anybody can help then that'd be most appreciated.

Cheers

Cheers for the info, is this a complex thing to do or is it DIY'able?

It's a common problem amongst all modern VAG cars, the sensor is usually located just after the airbox on the inlet hose, they are £80 exchange from your local stealers, or around £55 just for the sensor part from your local motor factors. You will need your engine code and ask for an air flow sensor, and you should also need a set of torx bits to get the screws off.
